DIY Garden Ladybug Art

January 18, 2016 by Rachel Golberg

SuppliesThis weekend you can create a family of ladybugs to add some color and personality to your garden.  Not only is the project easy to make, but it will turn out great regardless of your artistic abilities. Kids can even make a ladybug of their own.  This is an easy way to help kids feel included in the garden, as well as a fun reason to get outside and get dirty!

Supplies

  • Rocks. Look for some with smooth surfaces.
  • Red spray paint. I used Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover and had really good success with it.
  • Black pen. Mine is a Deco Color Paint Pen from Michaels.
  • Glitter (optional).

Non-Traditional Valentine's Day Decor

February 13, 2015 by Rachel Golberg

Sometimes the red candy and pink puffy hearts can be too much for home decor.  Here are some ways you can decorate with Valentine’s day decor and keep it subtle.

Ditch the Red and Pink

Try decorating with traditional hearts in an unexpected color (like blue)  The sentiment is still there but the colors can coordinate with your home’s existing decor for a seamless look.  (Found Here)

Christmas Card Display

December 19, 2014 by Rachel Golberg

As soon as the cards start to hit my mailbox, I lament over how to display them.  The last couple of years the fridge was the showcase for all the cards and pictures.  This year I wanted something a little more prominent and a lot less cluttered.

I bought a window at a local antique store for $19 and hung it up near our stairs.  I had some leftover burlap twine and clothes pins that served as the card display.

I attached some heavy duty hooks to the back of the window.

Ditch the traditional star or angel in favor of these unique ideas.  Being creative with your Christmas tree is easier than you think.

 Go Rustic

This blogger topped her tree with a craft paper reindeer.  You could do the same or substitute the reindeer for a bird or other woodland animal.

November 5, 2014 by Rachel Golberg

Give your Thanksgiving guests a warm welcome with these creative fall wreaths. They aren’t just for doors any more! Any of these colorful fall wreaths would look great in a window, on the wall or even above a fireplace mantel. They are an easy way to display the natural textures and colors of the fall season.

This wreath from The Violette Bloom can grace your door from the first day of fall through Thanksgiving. The fall colors would look great on a wood or glass front door.
