We live out in the Texas Hill Country, and there is nothing like sitting outside in the morning, drinking a cup of coffee, and watching the deer walk by while the sun comes up. My favorite place to sit outside is on our back porch. For the longest time, all I had on the back porch was an old patio set that consisted of a table and four chairs. I dreamed of patio furniture where I could sprawl out and read a book. Maybe even take a nap!
Since I paint furniture, I always have a pretty good inventory of antique pieces in my garage waiting to be painted. At the time, I had three headboards. Yes. Three. I wanted these headboards to be something other than the typical headboard, so each day I would go into the garage and stare at them and wait. I waited for inspiration. I waited for some genius idea to pop into my head. I waited for that something wonderful.
Then one day, I had it! I had seen several people turn a headboard into a bench, but what if we could turn one into a back porch swing?
I immediately drew up some designs and we got busy working.
