Removing and Cleaning
First things first, assess your current dryer vent. Is it damaged or excessively dirty? The one in my house was in pretty rough shape when I moved in. I decided to replace it entirely.
If your vent duct is in good shape, it will probably just need to perform regular dryer maintenance. I use the dryer sweep shown below to reach debris in in the dryer vent and lint trap. Compress the duct along its access to make it easier to clean, if needed.
