The Best Home Organization Systems

January 11, 2016 by Amanda Johnston

Any organization project takes a little work and creativity, but great home organization systems can help you get the job done quickly and effectively. Acquiring an organization system can allow you to better visualize what your area will look like after the project is completed and will give you a place to put useful items that are currently cluttering your home. The following are a few of the best organization systems available.

1. Closet Configuration Kits

Closet configuration kits can help you to create your own custom closets. There are many styles available to select from and some companies may even craft your custom closets for you. Closet configuration kits can often be expanded and arranged as needed, helping you make the most of your space.

4 Tips for Organizing Your Front Entry

January 5, 2016 by Anne Davis

4 Tips for Organizing Your Front EntryDo you have a tiny entry and no closet?  Or a closet that is woefully inadequate for your things?  Here are a few ideas to help you maximize your storage potential!

1. Closet Organizer

Did you know that a closet organizer can double or triple the storage space of a closet?  Finding the right configuration is the key to success.  The best closet organizers are easy to assemble and switch around as your needs or the seasons change.   You can double your hanging space and add shelves or drawers for things that can’t be hung up.

Closet organizers range in price from $50 to $500 depending on finishes and styles.

If a true closet organizer is out of your price range, substitute inexpensive tall bookcases.  Keep the top shelf in place and add hooks or closet rods instead of the middle shelves, just be sure to hang the closet rods flush with the front edge of the bookcase to allow for hangers to be hung without banging the back of the bookcase.

10 Tips For Decluttering A House

November 30, 2015 by Heather Shue

Life is busy and clutter seems to magically accumulate. What we don’t realize is that clutter impacts how we feel! It can stress us out and we don’t even realize it. A clutter free home feels good and it’s not hard to achieve or maintain!

1. A Space For Everything

Spend a day organizing your belongings and make sure every item has a place. Even if you don’t put things away right away, that’s ok. When we go on cleaning frenzies we tend to just shove things in random drawers and closets. That doesn’t actually solve the problem; it just hides the clutter. If every item has a space, you can quickly put it where it belongs during your next cleaning frenzy.

How to Organize a Very Full Refrigerator

April 22, 2014 by Becky Alexander-Conrad

[tps_header]When visiting our daughter’s home in Hawaii, I noticed she had an over stuffed refrigerator. It was so full it was hard to get to anything stored in the back let alone see what was there. Super Mom to the rescue! That’s me. :^D While out shopping for things for my granddaughter’s birthday party at an “off-price” retail chain that carries clothing and items for the home, I did a search for something to get that fridge in order.[/tps_header]

Supplies:Supplies

Enough long drawer divider trays to fit the shelves in your refrigerator.

Before you head to the store,  measure the width and depth (front to back) of your shelves to make sure you get enough containers for your fridge. The ones I found were 16 x 6 x 2.04 inches. As you can see in the photo to the right, they have little rubber pads on the bottom to keep them from sliding around in a drawer. Our daughter’s shelves were coated wire so they worked well. If you have glass shelves you might need to remove them for ease of sliding them in and out to access what’s in the back.

Easy Storage Closet

March 18, 2014 by Becky Alexander-Conrad

No matter what size your home is, one often finds themselves in need of extra storage. Turning a spare bedroom into a large walk in closet works great, if you have one. But don’t let that stop you from gaining extra storage.

The Dilemma:

When our son and grandson moved in with us I started working on turning our extra bedroom turned storage closet back into a bedroom for the little guy.

This room however, was filled with large shelving units loaded with things that at the moment had no where else to go. After scrambling to find places for every shelving unit, I realized I was still going to need some space in here for storage.
