Dishwasher
Bits of food and fluid get stuck in the drain, filter, and spray arm. An easy dishwasher cleaning trick is to dump in a cup of vinegar and run on a cycle with heat. The vinegar will clean out any buildup in the system. Use a nylon brush to clear away any remaining debris on the filter, spray arm, or surfaces.
Next clean the gasket around the door with a wet paper towel. Any debris stuck on the gasket can compromise the seal and create a leak.
Garbage Disposal
Bad odors from bit of food are common for garbage disposals. And the blades become dull from the constant grinding. A handy trick to solve both these problems at once is vinegar and lemon ice cubes. Dump a solution of equal parts water and vinegar into an ice cube tray. Place a lemon peel in each slot and then put the tray in the freezer. Drop the ice cubes into the garbage disposal and grind completely with water.
Microwave
Burned-on stains in a microwave are always a problem. To help the cleaning process use vinegar to loosen up the stains. Place a bowl of half water and half vinegar in the microwave and bring it to a boil for 30 seconds. Let the mixture stand for several minutes. The vapors will loosen the stains and make it much easier to clean.
