You have probably figured out by now that I’m pretty obsessive about organizing. It should come as no surprise then that I find boxes, baskets and bins to be handy tools in keeping our possessions in order and for the most part out of sight. Another one of my obsessions is time. Time is a non-renewable commodity, once it’s gone, it’s gone forever, so I’m obsessed with finding ways to use it wisely.

Boxes
I usually use containers as permanent storage for various items throughout our home, but as stated in my last article, Kitchen Organizing Tips to Make Your Life Easier, there are times when temporary storage is needed. Like the in and out boxes in our kitchens back entry, the decorative boxes I keep on the chest of drawers in our front entry are for temporary storage.
This front door is mainly used for deliveries and visitors so these decorative boxes serve only as a place to put small items I’ve found while cleaning house that would other wise get lost. Things like buttons or spools of thread, that my cats feel were left out for their personal pleasure and toss them around the floor until they are lost under a piece of furniture, find a temporary home in these boxes until someone needs them again.
For those that use their foyer more often they’d be a great place to keep keys, spare change or sunglasses.
