Weekly Roundup: Blog Hiatus Edition

For some it might be an overdue project or home maintenance task that stares them in the face every time they open the garage door.  For me, that nagging piece of my conscious is keeping this blog updated and relevant.  So I confess my lack of attention, due mostly to the major backyard renovation we’ve undertaken (much more to come on that adventure).

This past week was the 2011 National Hardware Show in (of course) Las Vegas.  Marc at HomeFixated.com has a great summary with some highlights of new products coming to the market.

As May and June are the transition months in to Summer, Consumer Reports offers insight on how you can save energy at home while you’re away on vacation.

Another fact of Summer for those in the already weather-beaten South and East is the 2011 Hurricane Season.  Researchers are predicting as many as 16 named storms this year.  Get your property ready with hurricane preparation guide.

You’ll also notice a new advertising partner for the HomeSpot HQ Blog: DiscountFilters.com.  One of the most routine of home maintenance tasks is changing your home’s air and water filters, and DiscountFilters.com offers free shipping for most of their products.
