I had a rodent problem that I didn’t discover until I noticed a bag of bird food has been broken into in my basement. Between my handyman and I, we resolved the problem in the basement, but then I noticed activity in my kitchen. I was disgusted. We tried resolving that, too. We had some luck but as soon as we would have success in one area, they would find another way to get in. I can’t tell you how much steel wool we used. I used the bird food arranged in perfect squares to tell if they returned. The challenge for me was we didn’t have much, if any, mice droppings to go by and the visits were infrequent – maybe every 3-4 days, so it took us months to resolve it. All winter as a matter of fact. By February, I was fed up and I called Holiday. I was ready. I took the time to print out a timeline of events – what we found to be the access points to help the specialist sent be as effective as possible in as little time as possible. The first person they sent didn’t have the patience. He cut me off mid sentence and kindly asked me to let him do what they do. I was a bit long winded but I had been fighting this for months and I wanted him to know what we learned. I hushed and sat over in a corner. After the inspection was completed, the specialist gave me Mouse Behavior 101. During this class on all things mice do, he laughed at me. I asked him more than once, “What’s so funny?” He said it’s likely that I have hundreds of them in my house. That left me scratching my head because if I had hundreds of mice, I would known it and it wouldn’t have taken us so long to get the problem under control because there would have been mice droppings everywhere. That’s why it took so long – we had no indicators to point to entry or resting points. He kept laughing. When he left, I wondered if I threw hundreds of dollars down the drain because it appears Holiday is a one trick pony. Regardless of what you’ve done or how severe your problem their treatment is the same: bait stations in and outside for 2 weeks and then plug holes. I wasn’t trying to kill every mouse in the neighborhood. I was just trying to keep them out of my house. Matter of fact: I didn’t want to kill any of them. I just didn’t want to share my house with them on cold or windy days. Fast forward two weeks: Cris comes out to inspect the bait stations and plug holes at the ground level. He is a night and day difference from the specialist I was sent the first round. He was a welcomed breathe of fresh air. He had manners and was respectable. I chalk it up to emotional intelligence and maturity. Cris listened. He inspected all the bait stations and not one showed any activity not even the ones in the garage or outside. We were both amazed by that. So his colleague was wrong. I asked Cris if I had thrown my money away, he reminded me that you can’t put a price on peace of mind. Actually, we believe Cris found the last entry point they were using. It was the sewer line in the utility closet in the basement. We thought they were coming in through a break in the wall but it was likely the sewer line and that explains why I kept seeing activity in the kitchen even after we sealed the wall and added door sweeps to the closet doors, they found a way into other parts of the house besides the basement – the kitchen. It’s because we never really treated the entry point. We just stopped them from entering the basement. All entry points found were: HVAC (outside) and Sewer (inside) lines, which led to the basement under the utility door, the Dishwasher and gaps in the kitchen cabinetry on the floor. We had to pull the dishwasher out and my handyman had to plaster the hole where the electricity ran. All in all, do I recommend Holiday? Simply put: I recommend Cris. Ask for him and only him. You’ve dealt with enough with whatever you’re dealing with, and you deserve empathy. Better yet, you deserve someone that knows what they’re talking about. Call Cris. The money you pay is worth it because it comes with a warranty. The warranty makes the price worth it.
