Great service! McCary treats our assisted living facility monthly. Any time we call to have an extra treatment they are quick to get us on their schedule. I hired MCCary Pest Control approximately 5 months ago because I was having an issue with rodents. I have never had this problem before & I was very afraid to be quite honest. I had never used a pest control service of any kind. My problem was worse after their “service” for which I was charged over $400. I finally had saved enough money to hire someone else who came last week (I will do a separate review for since they don’t want me to mention them in this review. Because they don’t want to be associated with McCary in any way). The pest control who came last week actually gave me a discount & helped me with quite a few exclusions at their expense. As they felt bad for me due to how egregious MCCary’s service was.

First of all my whole home was not inspected. I had to show them problem areas myself. Just the ones I was aware of because I was afraid to check as it needed to be. Two of the areas I specifically stated was the laundry because there was evidence behind my dryer & my attic. The rep of McCary told me there was no possible way anything was coming through my dryer vent. Well last week the new tech I hired showed me a hole chewed through the metal beside my dryer vent on the outside. He found this immediately by checking the outside. And most definitely this hole was present before because I took pictures of my dryer vent before MCCary even came because I thought it looked strange. I was too afraid to get that close. But not anymore.

As for my attic, the rep from McCary cracked my attic access door enough to throw one poison pack in. That was the extent of treating my attic.

McCary did zero outside exclusions. Which means no outside gaps or holes were filled. I was told there was nothing I could do about them entering the attic by my roof so that wasn’t even checked. The only hole on the inside that was filled was around the pipes entering my laundry with a few pieces of steel mesh. Needless to say several holes & gaps had to be filled last week by the new pest control. This includes the inside where a huge hole was behind my stove I wasn’t aware of. The new tech took pictures of everything before they filled the gaps correctly. And yes the new tech went onto my roof.

So I was charged over $400 by McCary’s for 4 glue traps inside & 4 poison packs inside. I have a cat & he could easily have gotten to the poison packs. And he did get stuck on one of the glue traps. I moved them which the new tech said I better be glad I did because it was not safe for domestic animals. The new tech used trapping methods that would not harm me or my pets. And amazingly had most if not all the rodents caught & removed from my property the next day. I also found out the rodents are coming from my neighbors next door which I am now taking steps to stop that.

I asked McCary to send me an itemized statement. And yes I notified them that my problem was worse after their visit. I should have done better homework before hiring McCary but I was told there is no excuse for leaving entries for rodents in my home for months. I certainly have nothing to gain from taking the time to write this review. I just know what I have went through & I do not want anyone going through what I have.
