Dishonest workmanship and does not return phone calls or texts.
Jones Plumbing is a one-man operation. The young owner is friendly, comes across as a really good guy and seems to be a competent plumber. Unfortunately, he lied about the work he recently performed at my house in Springfield. For the sake of not getting personal over the internet, I will not mention his first name. For the record, I am hesitant to leave a negative review for a small business. I always try to contact the owner before posting a complaint on the internet. However, after several unreturned phone calls and texts to Jones Plumbing (another negative review cites the same issue), I am left with no choice.
Several months ago, I paid Jones Plumbing 500 dollars to install a water heater and a zinc anode rod I had purchased beforehand. I asked the owner to install a zinc anode rod because of a rotten egg smell produced when the factory-installed magnesium rod interacts with sulfites in well water. An aftermarket zinc anode rod is designed to eliminate the rotten egg smell (I thoroughly researched this issue). To the owner’s credit, he installed the new water heater in a timely manner and was pleasant to work with. He even drove to Home Depot to pick up the water heater. However, his dishonesty occurred when he claimed to have installed the new zinc anode rod, in which I have recently discovered, he did not.
Here is the order of events (as best as I can recall): I was not in the room while the owner of Jones Plumbing was working on the water heater. When he finished, he called me into the utility room and showed me the magnesium anode rod he had supposedly removed from the new water heater. Suspiciously, it looked exactly like the zinc anode rod I had bought to replace it with! In hindsight, he seemed nervous when he gave me this information. But I took him for his word, paid him 500 dollars via personal check, and haven’t seen him since. Several months later while running hot water in the shower, the rotten egg smell returned. Unable to reach the owner by phone call or text, I contacted a different plumber to investigate the anode rod. To my dismay, we discovered the factory-installed magnesium rod had not been removed from the water heater! How do I know this? Per my comparison pics below, the corroded stock magnesium anode rod is one long piece (as typical from the factory), but the aftermarket zinc anode rod is a chain of smaller pieces linked like Chinese numb chucks (designed for an easier installation). I ended up paying another plumber 100 dollars to do the work Jones Plumbing claimed to have completed (the aftermarket anode rod corrected the rotten egg smell, by the way). Note the smaller box the aftermarket zinc rod was shipped in.
Long story short, I cannot recommend Jones Plumbing. Nice guy, but a very dishonest transaction. If the owner is willing to reach out to me and work this out, I will gladly remove my review.
I had a kitchen drain pipe that needed replaced so I called Jones Plumbing and left a message. Jacob called right back and I told him I needed a quote and he came to my home in less than an hour. Jacob gave me the quote which I felt was very reasonable and he said he could repair it the next morning.
Jacob was on time, did the repair, double checked his work and was very professional. I give him 5 stars from the initial contact to completion. Outstanding job which is refreshing in todays world !!!
I called Jake and left a message, he got back with me in less then an hour. He responded quickly and did great work. I used to use a different Plumbing service but I’m so glad I called Jake this time. I’ll be using him from now on at home and for work.
This plumber put new shower fixtures in, he did not know what he was doing, he had to get on you tube to see what to do. He forgot to put some pieces in the handle and made it to where all I could get was cold water. I called him, he was to return to fix the problem, he gave me a day and time with no show, no call, then would not return my calls. I had to call another plumber to fix what he didnt. Would not recommend this plumber again.
Great work. I called & in less than a hour, he was here. Got the job done with no issues.
