Do you know how businesses jack up prices on generators during a storm—not by hiding fees, but simply charging way more when someone is in need because they can? That’s exactly what I experienced with My Professional Plumber.
First, the positives:
– They responded quickly.
– Their employees were helpful and professional.
– Scheduling was smooth.
– The owner, Jamie, was responsive to listen to my concerns.
But here’s the issue: they charged an outrageous amount for a septic pump replacement.
Total cost for the job: $3,551 (not including an extra $1,000 I had to pay for an electrician and septic cleaning—both third-party).
Let’s break it down:
Cost of the part: $1,000
If we generously assume $500 in “operating costs,” that leaves $2,051 for labor.
The job took 4 hours total → $512.75 per hour.
Does $512 per hour seem reasonable to you?
I don’t mind paying for quality work, but this felt like a blatant price hike simply because we were in need and they could charge it. If you’re considering using them, I highly recommend getting multiple quotes from others first.
Jacob came out to fix our basement toilet that was leaking. I was able to get an appointment pretty quickly and he did a great job fixing it, even adjusting the handle since it was too slack. He also gave me an estimate for a new hot water heater in the same visit. Highly recommend, I have been using My Professional Plumber for 3 years now and have always been happy with their service.
Jesse was fabulous working on my plumbing needs. His knowledge of water and plumbing helped guide my decisions every step of the way. Jesse and Jacob were fantastic. Jesse came out late afternoon and did a thorough inspection. Diagnosed the problem and gave us several options. We talked about all options with zero pressure. Once we made our decision Jesse completely explained the timeline and informed us that him and Jacob would be back the next morning. Little did we know that the next day would turn into a monsoon. I was sure they would be calling and rescheduling but instead they were here as promised. In the pouring rain they were out there digging our pipe up. Finding where the crack was and within just a few hours it was fixed. All during heavy cold rains. These guys were unbelievable. It was a total mud pit by the time they were wrapping it all up but their only focus was getting us back up and running. That is my definition of a true Pro! We made an agreement for them to come back next week and level everything out once it has a chance to dry out which I am perfectly fine with. All I know is these guys are bosses in my book and being an insurance agent I will highly recommend these guys to my clients, friends and family members!!
