Upon Fred’s initial inspection he quickly assessed what needed to be done to install a double-check backflow valve. Fred helped me liaise with the city of Cleveland to make sure the correct application applied for my facility. The work was done quickly and professionally and the results were sent to the city for compliance. Fred’s attention to detail is fantastic! More than just a plumber, Fred easily navigated the bureaucracy so that I could focus on my business. I’d happily use the Alert Pioneer Plumbing Company again in the future.
Mr Alert is the epitome of a great plumber. He is skilled and a true professional who has invariably done great work for me. The only frustration I have had is that he is so good that he is very busy and sometimes hard to get as quickly as I could hope.
Of course that is the mark of a wonderful plumber and businessman. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
Eric was very thorough, efficient, and knowledgeable. He found the problem causing my water/sewer bill to skyrocket every month. He kindly explained what the problem was and showed me how it could be fixed. The landlord’s plumber had been out to the property several times within the past four months to try to find the problem with no success. My water bill was $59.93 for the month of March versus $250.00 for the month of February. I highly recommend Alert Pioneer Plumbing for any plumbing needs.
I had the best plumbing service from a reputable local plumber, but unfortunately, it wasn’t Alert Pioneer Plumbing. When I called this other plumber, their receptionist picked up immediately and scheduled a visit for the same day—unlike Alert, where I called multiple times without receiving a response for most of the day and was forced to schedule several days out.
When this other plumber arrived, they assessed the issues I mentioned, provided a quote, and completed the work the same day. In contrast, Alert took three days to get back to me with a quote, which I practically had to chase them for. When Alert finally tried to schedule the work, they offered an early morning appointment the next day, but unfortunately he was adamant about charging extra for off-site payments so I would have had to schedule it 10 days out to avoid those extra charges.
The other plumber charged me only $240 for all the work I requested. They even fixed a garbage disposal issue for free after discovering it was just jammed rather than broken. Meanwhile, Alert magically found several additional “problems” and tried to charge me $1,400, $300 of which was just for clearing drains.
When I wasn’t available on-site to pay, the other plumber provided an invoice and allowed me to pay via email at no extra charge. Alert, on the other hand, charged a 3.3% fee for remote credit card payments, unless you’re on-site of course. If you’re on-site, then the credit card payment fee is “only” 1.6% (not uncommon), unless paying in cash or check.
When I brought up some concerns about excessive fees, not even mentioning the horrid communication, Alert responded almost immediately with what looked like an auto-generated message cutting me off as a client: “I can tell we are not the plumbing company for you.” If that’s the level of unprofessionalism they operate with, they’re not the plumbing company for anyone.
I understand these plumbing companies get busy, particularly during the cold season, but it’s no excuse for the level of unprofessionalism I experienced. If you’re a busy person or business and unavailable to accommodate Mr. Alert’s significantly more important schedule, I would suggest looking elsewhere.
Big fan of this company. After my experience with them, they are my first choice for future plumbing jobs. Every part of the transaction, from initial site visit to payment, was done thoroughly, courteously, and professionally. Clear and extremely prompt communication meant I knew exactly what I was paying for. Can’t say enough about Fred and Eric. Glad I hired them.
